Descriptions on selected artists' works

Sidney Nolan
Inland Australia (1950)
From the dense and massive color, it is not hard to tell that Sidney Nolan used oil paint for this work. I think the reason he chose oil paint is,compared with watercolor, oil paint is less transparent and more contrastive between different colors. Moreover, oil painting is longer lasting through the passing of time than watercolors.

Ricky Swallow
The Arrangement (2004)

The material Ricky Swallow chose for this work is
limewood. Limewood is the best choice for sculpting because of its tenacity, less texture and soft. As seen from the picture, to achieve such vivid effect, I think Ricky Swallow used different types of gravers to do the shapes and details.

A very interesting model, particularly effective with your scanned texture applied.

If this is the artists studio is there an enclosed space in which he can shelter from the elements? This may be a consideration.

I have redone my model. Thanks for your suggestion.
